I have been a substantive Consultant Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Surgeon since January 2004.
For your convenience, I consult and operate on my Private Patients at BMI Chaucer Hospital in Canterbury and The One Hospital in Ashford. My Children's (Paediatric) Practice is based at The One Hospital and at Spencer Private Hospitals (at The William Harvey Hospital, Ashford).
I am also a Director of Quadrant ENT LLP, which is a team of 5 ENT Consultant Surgeons providing all ENT Services to Benenden Hospital in Cranbrook, Kent. Here I am able to treat Patients referred Privately, via the Benenden Society Private Healthcare Scheme or as NHS Choose and Book Patients.
My NHS practice is at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust (EKHUFT) comprising the Kent and Canterbury Hospital, The William Harvey Hospital in Ashford and the Royal Victoria Hospital in Folkestone.
I am able to offer a bespoke and up to date service in the diagnosis and treatment of all aspects of Ear, Nose and Throat Surgery, but have sub-specialist expertise in the Medical and Surgical treatment of problems that arise with the structure and function of the nose (a Rhinologist and Nasal Plastic Surgeon.)
My particular surgical interest is in Rhinoplasty (a 'nose-job', or operation to alter the shape of the nose) and Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (F.E.S.S) which is surgery performed on the nose and sinuses for long standing sinus problems and nasal polyps. I perform many of these operations per week, and prospectively measures and monitors the results of my Treatment and Surgery via validated questionnaires and careful post-operative follow up (please see 'My surgical results' if you are interested.)
I qualified in Medicine (MBBS) at St Thomas' Hospital in London, and received basic ENT training in Oxford and at Charing Cross and The Brompton Hospitals in London.
My higher surgical training as a Specialist Registrar in ENT Surgery was undertaken in London. I was based at Guys, St Thomas' and Kings Hospitals, and also received super-specialised paediatric training at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children and The Evelina Childrens Hospital at St Thomas' Hospital.
In 2003, I undertook a Fellowship in advanced Sinus Surgery and Facial Plastic Surgery at an internationally renown centre in Fulda, Germany with Professor Wolfgang Draf, sponsored by a Bursary from The Royal Society of Medicine.
I am a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FRCS) in both General Surgery and in Ear, Nose and Throat Surgery and an accredited Surgeon by the Specialist Advisory Committee in Otorhinolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery.
At the completion of my training I was awarded my Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST) by the Specialist Training Authority of the Royal Colleges of Surgery.
I am a member of The British Medical Association (BMA), The Royal Society of Medicine (RSM), The British Association of Otorhinolaryngologists - Head and Neck Surgeons (ENT-UK), The British Rhinological Society (BRS), The European Rhinologic Society (ERS) and The European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery (EAFPS).
In addition to my NHS clinical duties, I am The Royal College of Surgeons ENT Surgery College Tutor responsible for the Clinical and Educational Supervision of all the junior ENT Surgeons in East Kent. I am an Honorary Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery at St George's University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies.
I was the Lead Clinician for ENT Services at East Kent Hospitals University Foundation NHS Trust from 2011 to 2014.
In 2006, I was selected to be Honorary Clinical Tutor to Guys, St Thomas' and Kings Hospitals Medical School, and taught ENT Surgery to all the Medical Students seconded to EKHUFT from this Medical School from 2006 to 2014.
